On the Roads of Bulgaria: The Memory of Ustina and Tracing the Roots
"On the Roads of Bulgaria" is a visual diary of a photographer’s physical and spiritual journey toward his heritage. Captured in the village of Ustina, nestled on the slopes of Plovdiv where time flows at its own distinct pace, this series examines more than just a geography; it scrutinizes the childhood memories of a father and the ancient social climate of the Balkans.
By blending the disciplines of documentary and street photography, the photographer invites the viewer to an "analysis of life." The central theme within the frames is the unshakable yet naive relationship between human beings and their environment. Cars hidden under makeshift covers and local figures carrying the fatigue of years in every wrinkle—yet never losing their joy—represent the most fundamental form of the struggle for existence.
